On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 9:30 p.m., the Sansom Park Police Department responded to a report of a found child in the 3100 block of La Junta Street at Sansom Ridge Apartments in Fort Worth.

Officers conducted a thorough search of the area and went door to door to locate the child's parents or guardians. Despite their efforts, as of Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 10 a.m., no one has come forward to claim the child. Consequently, the child remains in state custody.

Described as approximately three and a half feet tall, weighing between 25 to 30 pounds, the child has braids in their hair and was last seen wearing a white Nike shirt with blue lettering and light blue shorts. Investigators believe the child had been wandering around the complex since 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, the child is unable to communicate verbally, making it challenging for officers to ascertain their identity or locate their family.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the child's residence or family to contact the Sansom Park Police Department at 817-626-1921.

UPDATE:  The child is currently in CPS custody and is reported to be in good health. The child was initially left in the care of several adults who failed to communicate effectively about who was responsible for watching the child. As a result, there was a period during which no one was supervising the child. The investigation into the circumstances of this incident is ongoing.
