The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
At approximately 1:40 a.m., a Chevrolet truck was traveling west on the IH-30 Service Road at Belt Line Road when the driver failed to negotiate the U-Turn and struck a tree.
The driver, identified as Armando Tovar, Jr., 19 years old, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. However, a passenger in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased by medical staff.
Following his release from the hospital, Tovar was placed under arrest for Intoxication Manslaughter. He has since been transported to the Grand Prairie Detention Center.
The identity of the deceased will be disclosed by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office after their next of kin have been notified.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
