Irving Firefighters will hit the streets Wednesday, April 27th through Saturday, April 30th to collect donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through the Fill-the-Boot campaign.
Last year the Irving Firefighters raised $89,526 in just three days, and this year they hope to reach $100,000.
Firefighters will be boot-handling on the intersections of Story Road and Airport Freeway; O’Connor Boulevard and Airport Freeway; and McArthur Boulevard and 635.
The money raised helps fund clinics, support groups, global research for 43 neuromuscular diseases, and summer camps.
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat more than 43 neuromuscular diseases through global research, comprehensive client services and health education. In Oklahoma and Texas, MDA offers 4 summer camps, over 20 support groups and clinics, and more than $1 million in research grants to state hospitals and universities, including Southwest Medical Center.
