Shortly before 6:00 pm on Monday, June 24th, the Fort Worth Fire Department Alarm Office received numerous reports of a house fire in the 1200 block of East Cannon Street in the Historic Southside area. Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story home engulfed in flames, with fire visible through the roof.
As crews worked to contain the blaze, the situation intensified, prompting the Incident Commander to order an evacuation and shift to defensive operations. During the operation, a distress call, known as a "mayday," was issued when two firefighters were forced to exit by jumping through a second-story window.
In response to the escalating emergency, a second alarm was activated. Three firefighters sustained injuries and were promptly transported to Parkland Hospital for treatment. The severity of their injuries has not been disclosed.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by authorities. The American Red Cross Greater North Texas was present at the scene to provide emergency assistance to one displaced resident. Additionally, the Red Helmets organization supported firefighters with hydration and snacks during their efforts.
