Irving Public Library to receive 500 books from corporate donor

The Irving Public Library is set to receive approximately 500 books through a partnership with Scholastic Inc. and the Irving Independent School District (ISD). Irving City Manager Tommy Gonzalez will accept the donation at a special ceremony scheduled for 2:30 p.m. May 25 at the West Irving Library, 4444 W. Rochelle Road.  Donated books also will go to the Central Library and the East Branch.

This donation is part of the Irving ISD and a citywide initiative called Irving Reads! To inspire reading throughout the summer, Irving ISD in conjunction with Scholastic, will provide more than 75,000 books to students in kindergarten through seventh grade to take home. In Irving ISD “Our House is Your House,” and to commemorate the occasion, the school district and community will be taking part in an historic event called 10 at 10. Everyone will stop what they are doing at schools, places of business and throughout neighborhoods to take time to read a book for 10 minutes at 10 a.m. May 27.

Help make Irving Reads! successful by joining the Irving ISD, Scholastic and the City of Irving for the book donation at the West Irving Library on May 25 and for 10 at 10 on May 27.
