Irving Police Reports on Click It or Ticket Enforcement

The Irving Police Department recently participated in a state-wide Click it or Ticket grant which focuses on seat belt compliance and increased safety on our roadways. Prior to and after the enforcement period, traffic surveys were conducted at various enforcement locations in Irving. The overall compliance percentage prior to the enforcement was a remarkable 98%. After the enforcement period, the post survey percentage was again 98%.

During the enforcement period officers worked a total of 80 hours and issued 195 seat belt citations, 5 citations related to child safety seats, and 47 other miscellaneous citations.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Click it or Ticket campaign. The results clearly show that the efforts from the last 10 years have resulted in more and more drivers and passengers using their seatbelts. However, there is still work to be done, as there are those who still choose not to buckle up.

The Irving Police Department pledges their continued participation in programs that encourage and support efforts to enhance the safety of our roadways.
