Two Dallas Police Officers Terminated Following Disciplinary Hearing

During a disciplinary hearing held on August 5, 2024, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia announced the termination of two officers from the Dallas Police Department.

Police Officer Shawn Couch, #11240, was terminated for multiple policy violations. Officer Couch was found to have violated the off-duty employment policy and the Expanded Neighborhood Patrol policy. Additionally, he engaged in adverse conduct by receiving pay for off-duty employment hours that he did not work. He also provided untruthful statements during an Administrative Investigation.

Senior Corporal Joshua Cooper, #9920, was terminated after an incident involving the Murphy Police Department. Corporal Cooper was discovered sleeping behind the wheel of a running vehicle and subsequently received a citation for Public Intoxication. This behavior was deemed adverse conduct, leading to his termination.

The disciplinary actions were part of the department's ongoing efforts to maintain integrity and accountability within the force.
