On June 27, 2024, the North Richland Hills Police Department received a report of an alleged assault on a child at ABA Interactive Therapy Center, located in the 8200 block of Mid Cities Boulevard. The complainant reported that her 7-year-old son from Arlington, who is a patient at the center and diagnosed with non-verbal autism, had been assaulted by a therapist employed there.
According to the complainant, a family member arrived at the therapy center on June 20, 2024, to pick up the juvenile and observed a large scratch on his face. The complainant later received video evidence showing a therapist assaulting the juvenile. Further police investigation revealed several unreported complaints against this employee.
Following the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for the suspect on charges of Injury to a Child, a second-degree felony under Penal Code 22.04 (a-1)(3)(f). Additionally, the investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations regarding potential violations for failure to report child abuse.

UPDATE: Upon further investigation an arrest warrant was obtained on July 24, 2024 for the owner ABA Interactive Therapy Center, identified as 34-year-old Kiara Henry of North Richland Hills, on the charges of Failure to Report which is a state-jail felony under Family Code 261.109.
On August 7, 2024, Henry was taken into custody at North Richland Hills Police Department.
NRHPD Is working in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County to locate the whereabouts of Ashley Nicole Moreno, who has an active warrant on charges of Injury to a Child, a second-degree felony under Penal Code 22.04 (a-1)(3)(f), in relation to this case.

UPDATE August 8, 2024: Lubbock Police Department has taken 31-year-old Ashley Nicole Moreno into custody for her active warrant out of NRHPD in relation to this case.
