Jesika Lynn Jones, a 32-year-old resident of Krum, Texas, was sentenced to 60 years in prison for injury to a child and endangering a child, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office. Jones pled guilty to the crimes in January 2024.
In 2022, Jones was arrested and charged with poisoning her 4-year-old daughter with Benadryl in an attempt to fake a seizure disorder. This followed multiple visits to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, where Jones claimed her daughter was experiencing seizures.
During the sentencing, the child's father addressed Jones in court, stating, "The scars of your betrayal run deep."
Detective Weber of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office conducted the investigation, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charlie Boulware and Tad Schmidt.
“Today’s verdict sends a clear and strong message that we will not tolerate medical child abuse in Tarrant County.” said Sheriff Waybourn.
