Fort Worth Firefighters Rescue Elderly Woman from Blaze

Shortly after midnight on Sunday, the Fort Worth Fire Department received multiple calls about a residential structure fire in the 4700 block of Eastland on the southeast side of the city. Firefighters were informed that a woman might be trapped inside the home. Upon arrival, crews found the house heavily involved in fire, particularly at the rear. Firefighters conducted a search and rescued an elderly, disabled woman found on a bedroom floor.

Life-saving measures were administered, including the use of CYANOKIT, to assist the victim's breathing. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. A second victim, who escaped the home safely, was also taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. The Fort Worth Fire Department Arson Investigation Unit, including Buzz, a highly trained arson canine, was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.

CYANOKIT is a medical treatment used for patients exposed to cyanide, a toxic chemical. It contains hydroxocobalamin, which binds to cyanide in the bloodstream, neutralizing it and allowing the body to safely eliminate the toxin. It’s often used in cases of smoke inhalation from fires, where cyanide exposure is a risk.
