On August 21, 2024, a Tarrant County jury found 66-year-old James Sexton guilty of Online Solicitation of a Minor Under 14 and sentenced him to 65 years in prison.
On March 5, 2023, the victim's parents found multiple inappropriate text messages on their 13-year-old daughter's phone. The text messages were from Sexton, a neighbor in the same apartment complex.
Due to Sexton's multiple felony convictions, the jury found him to be a Habitual Offender.
The Fort Worth Police Department investigated the case. The prosecutors were Assistant District Attorneys Erika Staif and Megan Bradshaw.
