Irving Police received a call reporting shots fired in the 3400 block of Grande Bulevar, near Beltline Road. Officers responded and found that a shooting occurred in the parking lot of 2701 N. Beltline. Two victims that had sustained gunshot wounds were found at that location inside of a brown Suburban. The victims have been identified as Mehboob Pirani, 35, of Euless and Rahim Merchant, 35, of Missouri City, Texas. Pirani was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased and Merchant was pronounced deceased at the scene. According to witness accounts, the suspect appeared to be a black male who was driving a yellow or gold colored taxi cab. There is no apparent motive and it does not appear that any criminal activity was involved, prior to the shooting. This investigation is the early stages; therefore limited information is available at this time.
