On September 27, 2024, at approximately 8:25 AM, Dallas Police responded to a shooting incident in the 1700 block of Overhill Lane in Cedar Crest, near Deerpath Park. Upon arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old Zachary Timothy James, a Black male, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Dallas Fire Rescue transported James to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on September 28, 2024.
Further investigation led to the identification of a suspect, 65-year-old George James, who has since been arrested. He was initially charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, but a charge for Murder has been added. His bond has been set at $750,000.
