Teen Sentenced to 40 Years for Fatal Shooting at Lewisville Hookah Lounge

Kaleb Deshun Carter

Kaleb Deshun Carter, who was charged with murder in the March 29, 2024, shooting death of Jayden Tramaine Anderson at the Luxor Hookah Lounge in Lewisville, has accepted a plea agreement with the Denton County District Attorney to serve 40 years in state prison.

Carter, who was 16 at the time of his arrest, was certified as an adult on August 23, and agreed to the plea bargain on September 19. The victim's family was present in court during the proceedings and was aware of the agreement.

The incident occurred at 1680 S. SH-121 Business, where officers responded to a call of gunshots and found Anderson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Medical City Lewisville, where he was later pronounced dead. A second individual sustained minor injuries and recovered.

Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from a verbal dispute at the lounge’s entrance, which escalated into a physical altercation before Anderson was fatally shot. Carter fled the scene before officers arrived but was identified through witness statements and surveillance footage. He was arrested on April 2 with the help of multiple law enforcement agencies. Two other juveniles were arrested on lesser charges but were not directly involved in the murder.

Lewisville Police Chief Brook Rollins praised the department’s efforts, stating, "The officers and investigators did an outstanding job sorting through conflicting details, leading to the arrest and conviction. I hope Jayden’s family can find some comfort in knowing that the person responsible for this senseless tragedy will be held accountable."
