Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop just before midnight on Wednesday, October 9. As deputies pulled over the vehicle, a passenger in the back seat discarded an AR-15 pistol with a loaded 30-round magazine out of the rear window onto the highway.
Deputies promptly recovered the firearm and detained the driver and front passenger. Meanwhile, the individual in the back seat fled the scene on foot.
To assist in the search for the suspect, additional TCSO patrol units, two TCSO K-9 units, multiple Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) patrol units, and FWPD Air-1 were deployed. Following a brief search, the fleeing suspect was apprehended and booked into the TCSO jail on charges of Evading Arrest and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon (UCW).
The other two occupants of the vehicle were released without charges. The investigation is ongoing.
