In the early hours of October 4, 2024, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Addison Police officers responded to a medical emergency call in the 3800 block of Spring Valley Road. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male in an apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers administered medical aid until the Addison Fire Department arrived and transported the victim to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives quickly identified 25-year-old Daniel Collins as the suspect. Investigators determined that Collins and the victim knew each other, and the shooting was an isolated incident. Collins was located later that morning in the 4300 block of Belt Line Road and was arrested without incident at approximately 9:20 a.m.
Collins is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail, charged with murder. His bond has been set at $90,000.
