The City of Irving is providing an additional format for residents to provide input on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2011-12 during the City Council’s annual budget retreat. The meeting, held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 18-19 at City Hall, 825 W. Irving Blvd., is open to the public and will air live on ICTN 2 (Time Warner Channel 95, Verizon Channel and www.ictn.tv).
At the meeting, City Manager Tommy Gonzalez will provide an update for the proposed fiscal 2011-12 budget, and council will review presentations by city departments. As a new interactive feature, residents are invited to provide input or ask questions the following three ways:

“The City of Irving is constantly striving to enhance transparency and create innovative methods of communicating with our residents,” said Mayor Beth Van Duyne. “By providing new ways for taxpayers to be part of the budget-planning process, the City of Irving hopes to bolster community involvement in the financial matters of the city.”
Time has been allocated during the budget retreat for City Council members to review and address comments and questions received from the public. Residents who cannot attend the meeting are encouraged to visit www.cityofirving.org where there will be a link to online public input opportunities and live streaming video from the retreat. Additional public hearings on the budget are scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 1 and 22 at City Hall, 825 W. Irving Blvd. Adoption of the budget will follow the final public hearing. The city’s budget year runs from Oct. 1-Sept. 30.
