Will Irving Welcome Casino Gambling Any Time Soon?

Current Texas legislation only permits Indian casino operations in Texas. All online betting, including sports markets and casino games, is prohibited, leading consumers to explore alternative options. Online gambling expert Alexander Reed discovered that crypto casinos are a popular option among Texan consumers. There are many benefits to using an instant withdrawal crypto casino including quick and easy deposits and withdrawals, anonymous gambling, improved security, and great sign-up bonuses.

In response to the growing use of offshore casinos, Texan lobbyists are now pushing to legalize general gambling in Texas. Discussions are being held regarding potential tax revenues and employment benefits that would result in destination gambling resorts being created.

Should gambling be approved, large-scale gambling hubs would likely be constructed. These hubs would include hotels, spa facilities, restaurants, exhibition and convention spaces, shopping, and much more. Any new casino development would contribute significantly to the state’s tax revenue and job market.

As well as these benefits, increased footfall would also be great news for other local businesses that would see an increase in visitor numbers. Local services like public transport and taxis would also benefit.

One location that has a lot of potential for a future casino resort is Irving, where Miriam Adelson recently purchased a significant amount of land. Adelson is the widow of Sheldon Adelson, the late Las Vegas Sands chairman and CEO. Now, Adelson and family own more than half of her late husband’s business.

The 108-acre vacant lot is located on the other side of Texas Highway 114 from the old Texas Stadium that was demolished in 2010. The former Dallas Cowboys stadium site would be linked by a bridge spanning the highway.

The existing infrastructure makes it an ideal location for a new casino site. Former Maverick's owner Mark Cuban supports the passing of gambling regulations, which was part of the reason why he decided to sell his majority share. He has been vocal about his desire for sports betting to be legalized, and selling his stake to a family synonymous with the gambling industry is a clear move to encourage state legislators to follow the lead of other states.

The Adelson's vast fortune and political influence could be a useful tool in the fight to legalize other forms of gambling in Texas. Their investment in land in Irving could further facilitate these changes, with a proposal in 2023 for casino developments making it further than any previous attempt.

If a proposition to amend gambling legislation in the state of Texas does pass, it could still be years before the regulatory framework is agreed upon, and even longer before development is permitted. However, the groundwork appears to be in motion at present so if these plans do get the go-ahead, developers won't be hanging around.
