On August 18 the Irving Police Department sent out a media release containing information about a fatal hit and run accident that occurred on Aug. 14. The release requested assistance in locating the driver and vehicle that struck and killed 17 year-old Francisco Reyes. Several media outlets provided the information to their viewers/readers after receiving the release. Later that day, investigators received information that led them to the location of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was located at a body shop in Denton, Texas where it was waiting to be repaired. The vehicle was seized as evidence and taken to the Irving Police Department. After additional investigation, a warrant for: Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Injury or Death was issued for John David Wright, 29, of Denton. On Aug. 19 Wright turned himself in at the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into their jail for the listed charge which is a 3rd degree felony.
