A scammer sought by Irving Police for defrauding senior citizens across the country has been apprehended. Irving PD initially requested public assistance on October 16 after a suspect was caught on surveillance footage at a CVS Pharmacy in North Irving. The most recent victim was an 88-year-old woman from out of state, scammed out of $15,000 in cash.
Following tips, investigators identified the suspect as 25-year-old Mohamid Mohamid Ali, residing at an apartment on Ross Ave. in Dallas. Detectives tracked his activities as he attempted to defraud an elderly couple from Enid, Oklahoma— a 79-year-old man and his 77-year-old wife. On Thursday, October 24, at 11:29 AM, Irving officers monitored Ali’s location as he arrived at a CVS Pharmacy at 410 W. Rochelle Rd., a UPS Access Point he used to receive money from his victims. Officers Roberts, Brown, and Hammett from Irving PD apprehended him without incident.
Ali now faces charges of Exploitation of the Elderly and Theft of Property valued between $2,500 and $30,000. As an undocumented immigrant, he is under an ICE hold to prevent him from bonding out.
