In the early hours of November 1, 2024, shortly after midnight, SPPD officers spotted a truck operating recklessly and at a high rate of speed on Jacksboro Highway. An officer initiated a traffic stop; however, the vehicle fled towards Lake Worth, prompting the officer to pursue due to the immediate danger posed to the public.
As the chase continued through Lake Worth, the suspect turned off the vehicle’s lights and accelerated to even higher speeds. Prioritizing public safety, the officer ultimately terminated the pursuit. The truck then crashed on Lake Worth Boulevard before reaching the bridge.
The Lake Worth Police Department was notified and responded to the scene. The driver fled on foot but was apprehended shortly thereafter. It was discovered that the driver had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. Additional charges are pending for evading law enforcement and possession of narcotics found in the vehicle.
The suspect was transported to JPS Hospital for evaluation.
