Teen Arrested for Murder After Fatal Shooting in Garland Apartment Parking Lot

Late Saturday night, November 2, 2024, Garland Police officers responded to a reported weapons disturbance in the 3200 block of West Buckingham Road. Upon arrival, first responders found a 21-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of an apartment complex. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officers immediately launched an investigation, with assistance from a police K9 that tracked the suspect, who had fled the area on foot. The suspect, identified as a 16-year-old Sachse High School student, was located and taken into custody. He is currently held at the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center, charged with murder.

The victim, a Richardson resident, has not been identified publicly as authorities await next-of-kin notifications. Police have stated that this incident does not appear to be a random act of violence, though the specific circumstances are still under investigation.
