On October 27, 2024, the Willow Park Police Department responded to a report of gunshots in the Mesa Springs Road area, marking at least the tenth call regarding similar incidents in the neighborhood that month. Upon arrival, officers conducted a thorough search of the area but fortunately found no reported injuries.
Following an immediate investigation, police identified a suspect linked to the gunfire and issued a warrant for his arrest. On October 31, 2024, the WPPD successfully apprehended the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Ryan Lecompte, during a routine traffic stop.
Lecompte now faces charges of deadly conduct, classified as a third-degree felony. The Willow Park Police Department emphasized their commitment to addressing gun violence and ensuring the safety of the community, encouraging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
