The Arlington Police Department has made an arrest in the June 6, 2024, murder of 38-year-old Marquis Holliman, who was fatally shot at an apartment complex on Cypress Club Drive. Holliman was found unresponsive on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Witnesses reported hearing an argument between Holliman and another individual just before gunshots rang out. Following a detailed investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 31-year-old Robert Kelly, who was apprehended by U.S. Marshals Task Force Officers on November 7, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Kelly is currently in the Shreveport City Jail awaiting extradition to Texas.
According to investigators, Holliman had confronted several individuals outside an apartment on the night of the murder, including a verbal altercation with a woman. After pushing her, a man—later identified as Kelly—confronted him, leading to a shooting. Witnesses and anonymous Crime Stoppers tips later identified Kelly as the shooter, with further investigation revealing he had been at the crime scene and was regularly staying at the apartment where the incident occurred. Authorities found ammunition matching the shell casings at the scene in the apartment, further linking Kelly to the crime.
Kelly left Arlington shortly after the shooting. Following consultation with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, murder charges were filed against him.
