Fort Worth's Northwest Community Center to Be Renamed in Honor of Former Mayor Betsy Price

The Northwest Community Center, currently under construction and set to open in January 2025, will be renamed the Betsy Price Community Center in honor of Fort Worth’s longest-serving mayor. The 25,000-square-foot facility, located in Northwest Community Park at 8375 Blue Mound Road, will include a gymnasium, fitness equipment, and meeting rooms.

Fort Worth City Council voted Tuesday evening to approve the renaming. Former Mayor Betsy Price, who served from 2011 to 2021, expressed her gratitude for the recognition. “I am deeply humbled and honored to have the Northwest Community Center named in my honor,” Price said. “I hope this new center becomes a vibrant hub for our community – fostering a sense of belonging, prioritizing health and wellness, and reflecting the values that make Fort Worth extraordinary. As a longtime advocate for our parks, trails and the Blue Zones initiative, I am thrilled to see a space dedicated to inspiring healthy living and bringing neighbors together for years to come. Thank you to the City Council, the Park & Recreation Advisory Board, and the residents of Fort Worth for this incredible recognition.”

The Park & Recreation Advisory Board had previously voted in favor of the renaming on November 20. Price, known for her advocacy of Fort Worth's park and trail system, was instrumental in making the city a Blue Zones community, focusing on promoting healthy living.
