City staff will present an overview on this past fiscal year’s accomplishments at a Resident Town Hall Meeting set for 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas, 500 W. Las Colinas Blvd. Residents can come early for self-guided tours of the convention center from 5 to 7 p.m.
New to this year’s Town Hall Meeting is a telephone option for residents who are unable to attend. Using the toll-free number, (888) 886-6603, ext. 17297#, callers can listen to the presentations and submit questions. Active registered voters with land line or cellphone numbers available via public record also may receive a call from the city inviting them to participate in the meeting via telephone.
“The telephone participation option introduces a new and convenient way for more residents to participate in Town Hall Meetings,” said Community Outreach Manager Susan Rose. “We hope that this will increase interest, interaction and overall community involvement in local government.”
Similar resident questions will be answered together so that staff can address the maximum number of inquiries during the allotted time.
Topics planned for discussion include key focus areas identified by the Irving City Council: public safety, code enforcement, corridor enhancements, capital improvement projects, communications and economic development initiatives.
Residents will be able to complete an online survey following the meeting to provide feedback and assess the new phone-in option. For more information, call (972) 721-2521.
