Ladraelyn Bolar, 34, was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison for his role in distributing fentanyl that caused the overdose death of an 18-year-old girl, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Leigha Simonton announced this week.
Bolar, who was charged in April and pleaded guilty in July to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, received his sentence on Tuesday from Senior U.S. District Judge Terry R. Means.
According to court documents, Bolar admitted to conspiring with others to sell fentanyl. On March 25, 2024, he sold 100 blue M-30 pills containing fentanyl to an undercover ATF agent in a Fort Worth parking lot for $250. Later that day, he sold an additional 900 pills to the agent for $1,400.
The investigation revealed that five days prior to this transaction, a friend of the overdose victim told law enforcement that she and the victim had purchased pills from Bolar.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives’ Dallas Field Division and the Fort Worth Police Department conducted the investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Levi Thomas and Shawn Smith.
