A tragic road rage incident on Interstate 20 westbound near Center Point Road claimed the life of one individual and left three others injured on Thursday morning, January 2, 2025.

At approximately 8:45 a.m., Weatherford Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers, and Parker County Hospital District EMS responded to reports of a major accident involving an overturned SUV. Upon arrival, emergency responders found three individuals ejected from the vehicle.

One of the victims, identified as 33-year-old Cosme Luis Espinoza of Lancaster, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Three others were transported to a Fort Worth hospital with injuries.

According to DPS investigators, the crash was the result of a road rage incident. An SUV with four occupants reportedly entered the eastbound lanes of I-20 into the left lane in front of a second vehicle, a grey Jeep Wrangler. Witnesses stated that the Jeep driver sped around the SUV, veered back into the left lane, and abruptly slowed down. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the SUV driver swerved, lost control, and flipped into the westbound lanes, ejecting three passengers.

Witnesses reported seeing the Jeep driver briefly exit his vehicle to observe the injured individuals before fleeing the scene.

The Jeep is described as a newer model, light grey or neutral-colored Wrangler. The driver is described as a black male in his late 40s to early 50s, approximately 5’10” to 6’0” tall, weighing around 220 pounds, and wearing casual attire described as “upper middle class.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Parker County Crime Stoppers at (817) 599-5555 or online at parkercountycrimestoppers.com. A cash reward is being offered for information leading to the identification of the driver.

Troopers continue to investigate this fatal crash.
