ARLINGTON, Texas — Police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that claimed the life of a 68-year-old man Tuesday night.
According to the Arlington Police Department, officers responded around 9:00 p.m. April 21, 2026, to the intersection of South Cooper Street and Lovers Lane after reports that a vehicle struck a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they found the man lying unresponsive in the roadway. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators said the man was attempting to cross Cooper Street from west to east when he was struck by a northbound 2015 Toyota Avalon. Police noted there is no designated crossing at that location, and the pedestrian was not wearing bright or reflective clothing at the time.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities said no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the victim.
Police are reminding pedestrians to use designated crosswalks or traffic signals, especially at night when visibility is reduced.
The investigation remains ongoing.
