Dallas Police Reclassify Oak Cliff Shooting as Homicide After Victim Dies from Gunshot Wounds

On January 1, 2025, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call The Atlas Apartment Parking Lot in the 2600 block of W Colorado Boulevard in Oak Cliff. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim on the ground, unresponsive. Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel responded to the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead at the location. Initially, the incident was investigated as an unexplained death.

On January 2, 2025, the Medical Examiner’s Office contacted Dallas Police, confirming that the victim had suffered gunshot wounds. As a result, the case was reclassified as a homicide. There are no suspect details available at this time.

The victim was identified as 45-year-old Jose Antonio Hernandez-Perez.
