On January 7, 2025, at approximately 3:20 p.m., Dallas police officers responded to multiple 911 calls about a man waving a gun at passing cars in the 11000 block of Joaquin Drive in northeast Dallas, in the Casa View area.
According to the preliminary investigation, two officers arrived at the scene and issued verbal commands to the suspect. The suspect reportedly pointed a gun at the officers, prompting them to fire their weapons. The suspect was struck and immediately given first aid by the officers until Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of Community Police Oversight were notified and responded to the scene. Both agencies will conduct independent investigations into the incident.
