The Waco Police Department announced the arrest of 20-year-old Kewon Dementri Briggs on January 8, 2025, in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Anthony Powe.
Officers responded to a shooting in the 900 block of S. 12th Street on May 13, 2024, at 12:31 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Powe with gunshot wounds and began life-saving measures. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
After a months-long investigation, detectives identified Briggs as the suspect in Powe's death. Briggs has been charged with murder and is currently incarcerated at the McLennon County Jail.
