Kendrick Holmes, 32, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and 15 years for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. The sentences were handed down after Holmes was convicted for robbing a convenience store while armed, pistol-whipping the clerk, and terrorizing customers.
Holmes committed the robbery while on parole for three previous convenience store robberies in 2013 and on bond for a pending firearm possession case. During the trial, witnesses, including the clerk and shoppers, testified they feared for their lives during the violent incident.
Holmes admitted to possessing multiple firearms while on bond and parole, purchasing them from suspected gang members, and trafficking two women. He was also linked to earlier robberies, with significant contributions from Detective Cayce Shelton and Detective Paul Johnson of the Dallas Police Department, who worked on his past and current cases.
Prosecutor Leah Dintino and DA Investigator Jesse Resendez presented the case.
