Alton Raye Shaw, 49, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on December 19, 2024, after being found guilty of Assault Intentionally or Recklessly Impeding Breath Circulation in connection with an attack on a woman identified as Cortney Lore Bradford on February 12, 2024.
According to court records,during the assault, Shaw grabbed and squeezed Bradford's throat, strangling her, before violently pushing her out of a window. The conviction was secured despite Bradford not appearing in court.
The case was investigated by the Dallas Police Department, with prosecution led by Mackenzie Pfleger and Julie Johnson, and DA Investigator Richard Forness assisting.
Shaw had a prior family violence conviction from April 7, 2022, for Assault Family Violence involving his former wife, Tynisha Perkins. That conviction resulted in an 18-day county jail sentence. Shaw and Perkins were divorced in March 2024.
