On Friday, January 10, at approximately 1:15 PM, the Fort Worth Fire Department responded to an incident involving a recreational vehicle (RV) that had crashed into a home on the 6000 block of Wrigley Way in the city’s southwest area. Upon arrival, firefighters found the RV engulfed in flames and immediately called for a one-alarm response to bring additional resources.
While battling the fire, responders discovered a person trapped inside the burning RV. Crews acted swiftly to extricate the individual and began lifesaving efforts alongside MedStar Mobile Healthcare. The patient, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Firefighters also searched the home to ensure no residents were injured during the crash. Fortunately, no injuries were reported inside the house. After the RV was removed from the structure by a tow truck, the Fort Worth Fire Department's technical rescue team worked to stabilize and secure the damaged residence.
As emergency crews concluded their work, neighborhood residents expressed their gratitude by providing hot chocolate and cookies to the firefighters.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
