Dallas Fire Rescue (DFR) is sending six personnel to support wildfire response efforts in Los Angeles County, California. The deployment, scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025, includes a Type 3 fire engine with four wildland firefighters as part of a strike team comprised of resources from across Texas. Two additional DFR members will join the Emergency Medical Task Force to provide medical support to fire crews.

The deployments, initially set for up to 14 days, may be extended depending on operational needs.

“We stand in solidarity with the teams of firefighters working to protect lives and property,” said Interim Fire Chief Justin Ball. “Dallas Fire Rescue Department is always ready to step in to support our fellow firefighters, especially in these extremely challenging conditions.”

Wildland firefighters from DFR are trained to combat fires in hazardous environments, including steep terrain and high temperatures. They will join a strike team consisting of five firefighting units and a Strike Team Leader, deployed to areas where their efforts are most needed. Other strike team members include personnel from Parker County, Greenville, Allen, Frisco, and McKinney.

The deployment is facilitated through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), a mutual aid agreement allowing states to request assistance during large-scale emergencies. DFR’s participation underscores its commitment to aiding communities in times of crisis.
