On Friday, January 17th, DeSoto Police responded to a report of a suspected robbery attempt near the 1300 block of E. Parkerville Road. A concerned citizen alerted authorities after observing a male suspect fire a shotgun into the air from the driver’s side window of a 2007 Chevy Suburban in the store parking lot.
Officers arrived within minutes and located the suspect’s vehicle near the gas pumps. Upon seeing police, the driver fled the scene, entering E. Parkerville Road. A pursuit ensued, during which the suspect allegedly attempted to collide with multiple police vehicles.
The chase ended in Cedar Hill, where the suspect surrendered to authorities. He was identified as 49-year-old Juan Pedro Olivares, a resident of Dallas.
Olivares faces several felony charges, including Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, and Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant.
DeSoto Police praised the teamwork of their Delta Shift officers and thanked the Cedar Hill Police Department for their assistance. They also expressed gratitude to the citizen who reported the incident, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance.
