On January 17, 2025, at approximately 7:00 PM, Garland Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2400 block of Highmont Drive. Upon arrival, officers learned that several individuals had gathered at the location when an exchange of gunfire occurred.
One person was found with a gunshot wound and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim is expected to recover.
Police have taken one individual into custody in connection with the incident. During their investigation, officers also discovered multiple vehicles damaged by gunfire.
Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and working to identify additional individuals involved. The names of those involved have not been released.
