DeSoto Police Search for Suspect Who Abandoned Injured Bulldog in Alley

Suspect vehicle

The DeSoto Police Department and Animal Control are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in the abandonment of a dog in an alleyway.

On January 22, 2025, at approximately 8:15 a.m., a concerned citizen reported spotting a female English Bulldog-type dog—white with tan markings—left in a narrow alley near Williams Avenue and Gilbert Avenue in DeSoto. The caller informed authorities that security footage captured the moment the dog was abandoned earlier that morning.

Animal Control Officers responded and discovered the dog in very poor condition. She was impounded and taken to the local animal shelter, TCAS, for medical care and documentation.

Surveillance footage showed that at approximately 6:44 a.m., a silver Chrysler 300 with black rims and a dent on the passenger-side door dropped off the dog before driving away.

"No animal deserves to be treated this way, and we want to ensure that this individual is held accountable," said the DeSoto Police Department in a statement.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the DeSoto Police Department’s investigations division at 469-658-3050 or the non-emergency line at 972-223-6111.
