Farmers Branch and Addison police officers were involved in an early morning shooting on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in the 4000 block of Belt Line Road in Addison.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., Addison Police assisted Farmers Branch officers in locating a suspect connected to previous narcotics activity at the location. Officers approached a vehicle believed to be involved in the investigation. When they asked a male suspect to exit the vehicle, a confrontation ensued, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect fired at officers, prompting officers from both agencies to return fire, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
A Farmers Branch officer sustained minor injuries, was treated at a hospital, and released.
Per protocol, two investigations are underway. The Texas Rangers are conducting an independent criminal investigation, while the Farmers Branch Police Department's Internal Affairs Unit is reviewing the incident to ensure compliance with department policy. The Dallas County District Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit also responded to the scene.
