The majority of residents indicated that the City of Irving is providing better than average service, according to results of the 2011 resident survey. Seventy-six of the 79 quality and customer service questions included in the survey have either improved or maintained their ratings since 2006.
Each year the city conducts a survey to determine resident satisfaction with the delivery of major city services, and to help set budget priorities to enhance
services and improve the quality of life for residents.
The survey covers a variety of topics including customer service, code enforcement, public safety, infrastructure and the city’s appearance.
- 81% of residents are likely to remain in Irving for the next 5 years
- 76% of residents would recommend living in Irving to someone else
- 71% of those surveyed rated the overall quality of city services as “excellent” or “good”
- 69% rated the overall quality of customer service as “excellent” or “good”
Overall, residents indicated that quality of life in Irving has improved since 2006. In addition, Bloomberg Businessweek designated Irving as one of the 50 Best Cities to live based on 16 criteria.
Survey results indicated that service levels continue to increase even though there’s been a decrease of $14.9 million dollars in the city’s operating budget during the past two years. While staff levels also have decreased, thanks to employees’ efforts to reduce waste through process improvements, residents still indicate that city services are “good” or “excellent.”
