Jarvis Boyd

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 7200 block of S. Lancaster Road in southeast Oak Cliff. Officers arrived to find 23-year-old Donald Daniels with gunshot wounds at the location. Daniels was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Further investigation revealed that 29-year-old Jarvis Boyd, the suspect, called 911 and turned himself in to authorities. Boyd was taken into custody and booked into Dallas County Jail, where he faces a charge of Murder.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Daniels and his girlfriend had attended a rap performance at the location. Daniels' girlfriend, who had a past romantic relationship with Boyd, texted Boyd asking him to come over. Boyd told investigators he didn't know Daniels was at the scene until his arrival and noticed Daniels appeared upset. Boyd decided to leave, but Daniels approached Boyd's car and threw a drink at it.

In response, Boyd retrieved a handgun and shot Daniels through the open driver’s side window, striking him in the chest. Police stated that Daniels was unarmed at the time of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and the case is documented under case number 018665-2025.
