Grapevine Officer's Chase Leads to Arrest for Evading, Identity Fraud

A Grapevine Police officer's observation of erratic driving earlier this month led to a vehicle pursuit, a foot chase, and the arrest of a suspect facing multiple charges, including unlawful use of another person's identification.

Grapevine Police Officer Alec Rounds initially spotted a car driving erratically on the highway. When Officer Rounds attempted a traffic stop, the driver accelerated into a neighboring city. The vehicle was ultimately abandoned near a hotel, and officers apprehended the driver after a brief foot chase.

A subsequent search of the abandoned vehicle uncovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia, an open alcohol container, and a South Carolina driver’s license belonging to someone else. The suspect admitted to unlawfully using the identification.

"Thanks to the quick actions and persistence of Officer Rounds and officers from a neighboring police department, this suspect was safely taken into custody, preventing further risk to the public," Grapevine Police stated. "This case also highlights the importance of vigilance in identifying and addressing identity fraud."

The Grapevine Police Department commended the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication in handling the complex and high-risk incident.
