Collin County Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Decades of Child Sexual Abuse

Joseph Baker

Joseph Baker, 46, of Allen, Texas, was sentenced to 60 years in prison without the possibility of parole for the continuous sexual abuse of two children.

The abuse, which spanned several years, began when the first victim was just seven years old. Baker continued to abuse the first child until they were 20 years old. He then turned his attention to a second child, beginning the abuse when they were 13 years old.

The second victim bravely came forward, launching an investigation by the Allen Police Department. Detective Jared McConathy led the investigation, which included interviews with both victims.

A jury found Baker guilty as charged, and Judge Tom Nowak sentenced him to 60 years in prison without the possibility of parole.

"Collin County has zero tolerance for child predators," said District Attorney Greg Willis. "This predator robbed these children of their innocence, but today, justice has spoken loud and clear."

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Charles Brazell and Abbie Adkins prosecuted the case, assisted by District Attorney Investigator Kim Voigt-Eanes, Victim Assistance Coordinator Jill Moore, and Legal Secretary Christy Ware.
