Dallas College and Texas State University (TXST) have announced the launch of Texas State Local @ Dallas College, a new co-enrollment program providing students with a seamless pathway to earn both an associate and a bachelor's degree. The program will be based at Dallas College's Richland Campus.

This collaboration aims to offer personalized support, reduce costs, and expedite the completion of bachelor's degrees for students. Texas State Local @ Dallas College seeks to foster a strong sense of community and connection across both institutions, ensuring students have ample resources and guidance for success. Eligible students can begin applying in fall 2025.

Dallas College Chancellor Justin H. Lonon emphasized the program's role in addressing key barriers for students: "Unclear pathways to progression and financial concerns are two of the biggest barriers our students face,” said Dr. Lonon. “This co-enrollment partnership directly addresses these challenges, providing students with a barrier-free roadmap to completion at an affordable cost. Together, we’re ensuring success is within reach!”

Through Texas State Local @ Dallas College, students can complete select TXST Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degrees on the Dallas College campus, including majors in Management, Finance, Marketing, and Information Systems (with concentrations in Business Analytics and/or AI). These programs are offered through TXST's McCoy College of Business, a nationally recognized top-tier business school.

Dallas College and TXST have established clear transfer guidelines to ensure full credit transfer. Students completing 63 credit hours at Dallas College before transitioning to TXST are projected to save up to $18,500 in tuition and fees based on 2025 rates.

TXST President Kelly Damphousse, a former community college student himself, highlighted the program's broader impact: “This program is about more than just affordability — it’s about creating opportunities. With Texas State Local @ Dallas College, students will have access to top-tier business programs in their own community, with the support they need to succeed. We are eliminating barriers, creating pathways and helping students reach their goals of earning a high-quality degree.”

Starting in fall 2025, participants in Texas State Local will receive a $1,000 scholarship for their first semester at TXST, renewable for a second year. Students transferring to TXST's San Marcos or Round Rock campuses will also be eligible for transfer merit awards based on their GPA in transferable coursework.

Additional benefits for program participants include access to academic advising, libraries, counseling services, and extracurricular activities at both Dallas College and TXST, as well as free tickets to select TXST home football games starting in fall 2025.
