Major Crime Drops 36% in Fort Worth's West 7th Entertainment District

West 7th Entertainment District

Major crime in Fort Worth’s West 7th Entertainment District has dropped by 36% from 2023 to 2024, according to new data released by the City. The drop is credited in part to increased police presence and proactive enforcement efforts by the Fort Worth Police Department.

The area, known as the King 12 or “K-12” beat, includes West 7th’s busy bar and restaurant district, more than 1,000 apartment units, additional residential areas, and some commercial properties.

Major crime categories tracked include aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, arson, auto theft, burglary, murder, sexual assault, robbery, and certain theft offenses. Notable declines in 2024 include:

  • Aggravated Assault: Down 31%

  • Auto Theft: Down 46%

  • Vehicle Burglaries: Down 40%

Gun seizures have also declined significantly. Officers recovered 115 firearms in the area in 2023, compared to 90 in 2024. In 2025 so far, that number is even lower. Only one stolen vehicle has been reported in the district in 2025 to date.

In addition to enforcement, the City is working to launch a voluntary certification program called the Golden Lasso Accreditation. The initiative aims to recognize bars, restaurants, and venues across four Fort Worth entertainment districts that are committed to creating safe nightlife environments.
