Hit-and-Run Leads to Pursuit, SWAT Response, and School Lockdown in Colleyville

A Friday afternoon hit-and-run incident in Colleyville escalated into a pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies, a SWAT team response, and a temporary lockdown of a nearby elementary school.

At approximately 4:04 PM on May 2nd, Colleyville Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Glade Road and Thompson Terrace following a report of a hit-and-run. A red pickup truck reportedly collided with another vehicle and left the scene without exchanging information.

A witness followed the red pickup truck, and officers located the vehicle in the 5500 block of Colleyville Boulevard. Officers attempted a traffic stop by activating their emergency lights and sirens, but the driver of the truck allegedly failed to yield. The vehicle continued eastbound on Hall Johnson Road, then northbound onto Pool Road.

The pursuit ended when the pickup truck struck a fire hydrant on Pool Road near Blueberry Road, disabling the vehicle. The driver reportedly did not comply with officers' commands to exit the vehicle but appeared conscious and was seen moving inside the truck.

The Colleyville Police Department was assisted by the Southlake Police Department, including K9 Zeusz, the Grapevine Police Department, and the North Tarrant Regional SWAT Team. As a precautionary measure, Glenhope Elementary School was placed in a Secure response protocol to ensure the safety of students and staff in after-school programs.

Negotiations with the driver were unsuccessful, and after multiple deployments of less lethal chemical munitions, the individual eventually complied and was taken into custody.

Colleyville Fire Department paramedics evaluated the subject at the scene and determined he was experiencing a medical emergency. Authorities stated that due to the individual's mental and physical state resulting from the medical emergency, no charges will be filed at this time, and the subject's identity will not be released.
