Double Homicide Under Investigation in South Dallas

Two men were found deceased with gunshot wounds after Dallas police responded to a shooting call in the 4800 block of Spring Avenue in South Dallas on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

At about 9:55 PM, officers arrived to find 71-year-old James Johnson with gunshot wounds inside a residence, and 34-year-old Dameon Green lying unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) responded and confirmed that both Johnson and Green died at the scene.

As officers continued their investigation at the scene, a call came in for a suspicious person just a few blocks away. Responding officers located a man who was barefoot and bleeding from his feet. Police followed a distinct blood trail from where the man was found back to the residence in the 4800 block of Spring Avenue, believing he cut his feet on broken glass from the home.

Investigators quickly determined that the injured man and the two victims knew each other. The man has been detained and is currently being questioned by detectives in connection with the double homicide.

This ongoing investigation is documented under case number 083371-2025 and will be referred to a Grand Jury.
