Dallas Man with History of Domestic Violence Sentenced to 70 Months for Illegal Firearm Possession

Thomas Keithlun Brown

A 26-year-old Dallas man with three prior domestic violence convictions has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, according to Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Nancy E. Larson.

Thomas Keithlun Brown pleaded guilty to the federal firearm charge in September 2024. On June 18, 2025, U.S. District Judge Ed Kinkeade handed down the 70-month sentence.

At sentencing, federal prosecutors emphasized Brown’s extensive record of assaulting women and prior convictions for domestic violence as justification for the length of the sentence.

The case falls under the U.S. Attorney’s Office Domestic Violence Initiative, which focuses on using federal prosecution to prevent individuals with histories of domestic abuse from possessing firearms.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Denton Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys John Boyle and Luis Suarez prosecuted the case.
