A Dallas County jury has found 62-year-old Stephen Dewayne Selmon guilty of Murder in the June 2025 death of his girlfriend, 51-year-old Isis Adger.
According to court testimony, on June 26, 2024, Selmon called 911 from Wichita, Kansas, stating that his girlfriend “appeared to be dead” and that he was being framed. The day before, a neighbor at their Dallas apartment complex reported hearing a violent argument and physical altercation between the couple around 10:00 p.m. Though the neighbor did not contact authorities that night, they later told police, “the boyfriend did it,” after learning of Adger’s death.
During the investigation, Selmon gave multiple conflicting statements. He claimed he had been drugged with Visine and that someone else must have entered the apartment while he was asleep and attacked the victim. Forensic evidence later confirmed that Selmon had not been drugged, and no foreign DNA was found at the scene — only his.
Prosecutors also presented evidence of a prior assault Selmon committed against Adger in Licking County, Ohio. Testimony from two additional women who described being victims of domestic violence at the hands of Selmon was admitted during trial.
The case was prosecuted by Lead Prosecutor LaQuita Long, with assistance from Mackensie Pfleger. DA Investigator Maria Carrera and Victim Advocates Shanika Davis and Sydney Yrlas supported the victim’s family throughout the trial. The investigation was led by the Dallas Police Department.
On June 30th, 2025, Selmon was senteced by the jury to Life without the possibility of parole.
